
Colon street is the oldest street in Cebu. Cebuanos always visit here in the colon because there lot of mall. Like street store, fast food and many more. The street was the main business and commercial district of the city. Since the street was the center of commerce and trade in the city, many universities were built in the area, including the university of visayas, university of Cebu main campus, university of Jose recoletos and the university of San Carlos. Sadly, most of the markers were vandalized and only a few are currently existing. Colon Street is still one of the most crowded parts of Cebu.

Today, Colon Street continues to attract bargain hunters and small businesses looking for merchandise they can sell in other parts of the province. Many of the old stores continue to sell items at rock-bottom prices. The area is also home to numerous shops selling second-hand merchandise or items popularly known as “ukay-ukay” or UK. Since people still flock to the area, some big-name businesses have also opened branches in Colon Street.Getting to Colon Street is quite easy since most of the jeepneys plying the roads of Cebu City pass through the street. Some of these jeepneys interest the street while others run through a part of the street itself. All you need to do is to look for a signboard showing Colon on it or you can simply ask the driver if he will pass through colon street. And colon street is still among the most crowded areas in the queen city of the south.It continues to be a place for people from all walks of life to gather and look for great deals on products that may be cost more in the malls. And there lot of jeepneys coming from different areas in the city typically pass by the street.

The entry of big malls in Cebu may have shifted commercial activities into the uptown areas, but if there are still people looking for great deals in the city. Colon street will continue to be the center of the business in the queen city of the south. And the best museum the province has to offer and of course the tons of food from know fast food chain, small restaurant and possibly the highest selection of the street food the whole province has to offer. And if you got the energy and the time however, I would highly recommend going through this area by foot hahahaha! Because I think it’s the best way to get a sense of how historic these places are and you get to see and interact with locals easier. Even up to now, foreigners and locals alike are becoming more careful when passing here even though policemen and “tanods” are being deployed in the area. When transversing colon on foot, you feel like you’re running for your life. Don’t look back or stop unless you want to be left behind. I may sound melodramatic, but that’s actually what we advise folks when we go to these places. Don’t bring your valuables, be alert put your bags I front of you, go in groups, brisk walk, be mindful of the people around you. And people love all the part of the city of cebu, because it is where all the high culture and all the history of Cebu is hidden in it that attract people, but there is a ton of crime and gloom that drive people away. Colon street is the place that many sidewalk vendors selling foods and refreshment in the street. And there are lot of old buildings here that resembles the past. But walking along the way would make you feel enjoy by it’s hanging souvenirs which is even more affordable. It has a lots of offers here, from foods to souvenirs and many more, but we should careful with pickpocket as the place can be too crowded. And also there lots of small local businesses that worth to visit to get right into local cebuano culture. Many open markets and great prices.So, what you are all waiting for?
