The town of Liloan is home to some of the best delicacies Cebu has to offer, the rosquillos and masi. Aside from these popular Cebuano treats, it is also home to a several natural and man-made tourist attractions, including the famous lighthouse or the Parola.

The Parola or the lighthouse is the reason why the town was given the nickname “The Light of the North.”
The lighthouse is situated on an elevated area in Barangay Catarman, Liloan overlooking the Mactan Channel. It was built during the American period under the executive order issued by the first American governor-general of the Philippines, William Howard Taft. It started providing guidance to ships passing into the channel on April 1, 1905 and has continued to do so for over a hundred years.
The Parola is managed by the Philippine Coast Guard and the light point flashes at five-second intervals. Going to the Parola in Liloan is as simple as getting on a northbound bus or jeepneys and getting off at the town center. From there, you can ride a motorcycle for hire to the lighthouse itself.

As I was strolling around the venue, I later on realized that there’s more to Bagacay Point Lighthouse than just a chill-out spot and a place for prenuptial shoots.
As a matter of fact, I found out that it can be a fun playground for travelers as well as locals who want to escape the monotony of their everyday life. And for me, there was no other way to end this perfect day in the “Light of the North” than a visit to this charming landmark. As soon as we set foot on Bagacay Point Lighthouse, we were all mesmerized by the towering beauty of the parola and its romantic atmosphere.
Even though we had plenty of time, we didn’t waste any minute admiring the sight. We posed in front of the camera, and snapped a bunch of photos of the parola from the different angles. And also every weekend there are some people who will go to parola to enjoy the scenery and to feel the fresh air of the place.
